The approaching Valentine’s Day make most of us ask ourselves the question: „What should I buy him/her this year?” Roses, hearts and teddy bears maybe are romantic, but unfortunately also trivial and boring. If you are looking for something unusual and original, you have to use your imagination. And here are some of our propositions that may be inspiring…

1. Set of nice, well designed two pillow-slips with names of the most famous, more or less serious lovers in history (like: “Romeo” & “Juliett”, “Tarzan” & “Jane” or just “Devil” & “Angel”) printed on them. On the other side of slips there is written: “forever love”. Slips are aesthetically packed in aluminium tube. Isn’t it a cute item for both of you?

What Does Your Style of Furniture Say About You?

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

The furniture in your home sends a message to those who visit you, whether you’re aware of it or not. Even if your visitors do not consciously pay attention to it, furniture and style sends a subconscious message and can create a certain atmosphere in a room. Certain pieces can create a sense of calm and tranquility while others energize a room. What exactly does the furniture in your home say about you, however? That all depends on your style.

1. Eclectic

If your house consists of random furniture with little or no set pattern, you may fall under the eclectic category. You might fancy more modern works and yet still feature classic pieces as well. This style may or may not have a pattern that repeats itself. You may pick things based on certain qualities, like color, or simply choose what pleases you. This tells others that you are open to new things and have a sense of adventure. The key to making your furniture work together is to choose one thing, be it color, size, or style, that unites most of your furniture in some way.

2. Organized

Those who choose matching furniture, often even matching furniture sets, have a more organized style. The theme of the room is very clear and most pieces fall into a certain category. This does not necessarily mean your house has a traditional or classic feel. Even those who choose contemporary furniture can fall into this category. They simply choose to use all, or almost all, contemporary furniture in their decorations. If you are more organized in your furniture style, it shows you like order and tend to look for patterns in things. Guests may feel more at ease in your home because of the sense of structure.

3. Minimalist

Those who prefer to keep things simple often have a minimalist style of design. Regardless of the type or style of furniture you use, you like to keep everything as simple and functional as possible. Decorative items are still used, but they are used sparingly. Your home may feel empty to some, but to others it will be relaxing. To create a more peaceful feeling, avoid using too many bright colors. Light colors with the occasional darker or brighter splash will create a calm feel while still creating a focal point to keep the atmosphere from becoming too boring.

Many people do not fall into one category or another. They may see a little of themselves in each one, or find their style changes over time. Examining the furniture styles preferred by others is not only a great way to get to know them, but a useful way to find new styles you may like. Each person has their own style, and experimenting is a wonderful way to find the one that fits you best.

7 Top Reasons to Choose Custom Contemporary Furniture

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I was reminded of a friend of mine who’s mother wanted to take him shopping for his birthday at a speciality designer shop. Although contemporary fashions, these weren’t his usual off-the-rack sort and many were originals. As a fairly peer oriented teen, he was reluctant to veer too far from the run-of-the-mill selections in the usual, popular teen fashion haunts of the day. His decision not to go to the designer boutique gave my mother yet another ‘I told you so’ moment when later that summer, I went to a important party dressed in exactly the same outfit as one of my friends, and had the nerve to complain about how embarrassed I was.

Contemporary furniture shopping is much the same as clothing fashion shopping because your choices in design and comfort should be unique to you, and a reflection of your own personality, whatever that may be. That’s just one good reason to consider high quality, handmade, furniture when shopping for a contemporary look for your home, and there are at least a half dozen others.
