A platform bed is designed to support the mattress with no box spring required. This has several advantages in today’s modern world, ranging from style to functionality and safety. Platform beds can be shorter than a traditional bed. Many people prefer their bed to be lower to the ground either out of personal preference or to better fit the style of the room. This is an excellent choice for children who may be worried about falling out of the bed at night. Platform beds are also shown to be sturdier, and thus safer, than a regular bed.

A major advantage of the platform bed is the storage space it provides. Without the box spring underneath, there is room for under-the-bed storage.
