The Odessa Rug

Tom had been wanting to design a rug for some time – and a collaboration with his friend Jennifer Manners seemed the perfect opportunity. They have a shared love of exquisite craftsmanship and materials. The design for the Odessa rug was was inspired by a pattern Tom had created for his beautiful Odessa cabinet, which has sharp diagonal tapering lines. The cabinet is all in one colour but the rug threw up the opportunity to play with colours. There are subtle textures in the rug too – it is made of hand-knotted New Zealand wool with bamboo silk (100 knots per square inch). It is all handmade in Nepal , and available in bespoke sizes. Why we love it
  • This perfectly demonstrates Tom’s understanding of line and proportion and plays to his strengths as a very “graphic” designer. The rugs look great and feel even better. Tom: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with Jennifer on these rugs. I found there was a lot I didn’t know about the rug making process, I love to work in two dimensions, and it was great to work with colour and texture.
