This International Women’s Day we’re reminded to take stock of all the remarkable women who make our brand tick. Tom may be the maestro of design, but he’s the first to point to the many characters at TF without whom the brand could not reach the heights it has. Over the past 25 years, he’s been intentional about surrounding himself with talented women who raise the bar across our organisation. From the proverbial corner office to the welding bench, the women of TF continue to push the boundaries of what we can achieve, doing so with grace, grit, and no shortage of wit. Under this year’s theme, “let’s accelerate action”, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating those who’ve brought us to where we are today and casting an eye to how we can all continue to build a future which celebrates women in the area.

At TF we’ve been lucky enough to have one exemplary woman leading the way since the very early days. Miranda stepped into her role as CEO 20 years ago and has been instrumental in setting the scene for success as well as creating an environment for women to thrive within the business. She leads by example and dashes any doubts that there might be a limit to the impact a woman can make in an executive role.

There’s tremendous female talent to be found at every level of our business. Our office is animated by women who push the envelope daily, like the marvellous Millie, Grace, and Georgie, to name a few. The same dynamic permeates our London and New York showrooms, run respectively by the wonderful Freya and Mitzie. They bring a deeply attuned approach to working with clients, understanding their needs and knocking the ball out of the park at every opportunity. We’re always blown away by the feedback we receive on their can-do attitudes and reliability to deliver – whether that’s finding a way to make a uniquely challenging bespoke order a reality or divine the perfect combination of designs for a particularly exacting interior project.

Over in our workshop, we’re proud to be bucking anachronistic stereotypes with a mixed cast of craftspeople engaged in the action. We rely on expert welders like Jess to bring our furniture designs into being with absolute precision. She’s a key player in maintaining our reputation for distinctive forms made flawlessly. In fact, she’s even achieved the coveted “10p Capricorn” prize, our own little way of recognising those who craft a Capricorn table perfectly and without a single weld mark on their first try. This, we can assure you, is no small feat!

Sarah, Head of Specialist Finishes
Once Jess has struck the bullseye on form, it’s over to our Specialist Finishing department for the final artful touches. The team, led by Sarah, is brimming with abundantly adept women like Martina, Sophie, and Ella. Sarah is an exceptional artist in her own right, who brings invaluable experience and a keen eye to her craft. Hers is the mind behind our unique range of finishes, concocted in-house using fine metal powders and pigments. The teams goes above and beyond in applying these creations, painting them onto our designs by hand for a beautifully balanced, characterful result. We also rely on Jen, who helms our Samples department, to gorgeously showcase the many distinctive finishing options, helping our clients settle on their favourites.

Once a design is ready to leave the workshop, it’s our Head of Operations, Sally who manages its movements. She coordinates both domestic and international shipments with all the finesse of an orchestral conductor, ensuring they run smoothly and swiftly. She’s known for going the extra mile to take care of our clients, following up upon delivery to ensure all has been executed to perfection.

Looking to the future, we’re committed to continuing to raise women up in all roles across our business. As such, it’s only right that we should have a woman as our Head of People. Davina takes charge on bringing new talent to our teams and creating the conditions for them to thrive. She’s one more indispensable character at TF who contributes to a culture in which women have the space to operate at their highest potential. In turn, we all benefit, reaching greater heights as a company and as a team of equally invaluable individuals.
