Handcrafted metal side tables

Skye

Skye

The Skye collection was initially inspired by the neolithic standing stones which pepper the UK. As these designs evolved, Tom was influenced by the work of modern British sculptors, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. These pieces are the product of a year’s worth of sketching, prototyping, and fine-tuning, resulting in furniture informed by heritage and moulded by contemporary craftsmanship. Tom has always got his eyes open to inspiration – so, in practice, this collection has been in the works for much longer than a year. It’s the product of sights collected, artists admired, and materials explored.

The Skye designs are united by a sense of materiality, taking shape in ‘Satin’ polished stainless steel as well as other specially developed powder-coated colourways. They also share a portal of sorts, creating distinctive forms which are amplified by a contrast between negative and positive space. Finally, these designs have an asymmetrical quality which speaks to their abstract, elemental points of inspiration.

In Tom’s words: “Skye has been an important collection for me and I have taken great pleasure in working on it. When it started to take shape in my mind, I saw it as an opportunity to create something that celebrated the unique qualities of metal, the material I love and have worked with for so long. A year in the making, I’m now excited for it to be seen and enjoyed.”
