Let There be Light

Lighting holds so much power in setting the tone of an environment. Each space and situation can take on a unique atmosphere through lighting, helping to articulate an interior and punctuate the rhythms of the day. The design of these fixtures is fertile ground for creativity, posing endless possibilities when it comes to form, material, and finish. We’re here to lay out some suggestions on how to select the ideal light for the room, task, or ambiance you’re looking to get just right…

Dining Room Chandelier

A dining room chandelier is inherently a feature piece. It’s something one can hum and haw over for eons before settling on the right quality of light, size, and style to both suit and elevate a dining area. Our designs tend towards the contemporary, however carry within them a softness and attention to detail which allows them to coexist with more classical furnishings as well. The Phoenix chandelier incorporates slightly tactile, rich materials like polished brass to tie in with more textured, layered schemes. Its form, on the other hand, is streamlined and angular. The trio of three-sided spears hangs in perfect balance, cascading light evenly to complement the scene below. We can handmake the design to sit in perfect harmony with your dining table or stand out as a statement piece for a splash of the unexpected.

Kitchen Island Pendant Lights

Hug pendants finished in ‘Persian Silver’ + ‘Florentine Gold’

Selecting pendant lights for a kitchen island is an opportunity to instantly bring a certain design pedigree to your scheme. Going for the right ones sets you in good stead, however it’s also important to consider the format in which they’re hung. A bit of variation in heights can help to add movement and intrigue to your kitchen. Our Hug pendants are highly adaptable in this regard, giving off a different effect when grouped in an artfully arranged trio versus spaced evenly for a modern, uniform effect. The layout of your kitchen island will help to inform your approach, while the atmosphere you’re looking to achieve can guide you in your choice of finishes. We often recommend a warm-toned finish on the interior of these hanging pendant lights to create a golden glow, even if you opt to keep the exterior crisp and metallic. With this design, you can bring in a bit of contrast which ignites the form itself, as well as the space around it.

Sculptural Desk Lamp

Skye table lamp in Sicilian jasper

A home office is one of those spaces that can really be made a room of one’s own. These environments carve out the opportunity to set your preferred scene for deep work or focused thought. Beautiful objects play no small part in achieving that. Something as function-forward as a lamp can become a daily touchpoint in your routine of getting down to business. Bringing rich materials and organic forms into the space helps to elevate that endeavour. Our Skye table lamp is sculptural in form and highly adaptable in terms of material and finish. The latter elements even help to tweak the quality of the light emitted as it plays off the curving base below. We find it works particularly well in graphical, warm-toned Sicilian jasper or, if you prefer a more contemporary effect, one of our metallic specialist finishes.

Dressing Room Wall Light

Lily wall light finished in ‘Persian Silver’ with alabaster

Another space to steal a moment’s solitude is the dressing room. Lighting is key in here, as it’s where you set yourself up to move through the rest of the day. We’ve recently introduced a new take on our Lily design which emits a warm, gentle glow. The Lily wall light with alabaster filters light through tonal variations in the stone, set against a crisply articulated, organically shaped frame. The design delivers functionality, formal beauty, and even a hint of flattery as you prep for what’s ahead.

Contemporary Bathroom Lighting

Cloud wall light finished in ‘Persian Silver’ with alabaster

Bathroom lighting can be tough, especially if you’re tasked with integrating it into a more compact powder room, for example. A wall light with a larger surface area helps to maximise luminosity while keeping a slim profile. These also help to transmit light more evenly as you give yourself a once-over in the bathroom mirror. Much like our Lily iteration, the newly introduced Cloud wall light gives off a favourable glow while presenting a captivating exchange between materials. Natural stone meets hand-hewn metal to bring a bit of ‘wow’ to a bathroom scheme. In larger spaces, we’d suggest opting for a pair of these positioned at either side of a vanity to create ideal lighting conditions as you prepare to step out.
