Arizona Needle
This sculpture takes its name from the deserts of Arizona which inspired its design. It echoes the volcanic rock formations which rise up from the earth in improbable arrangements, somehow finding balance along the way. The Arizona needle explores themes of permanence and fragility, while celebrating the perfect imperfections that nature creates. The original iteration was crafted in Corten weathering steel, conjuring the colours of its namesake desert. We also make it in bronze as well as other finishes, like the ultramarine blue shown here. Why we love it
“I love the geometry of this piece”, Tom says. “The plates of steel overlap each other and run into each other. It’s not always easy to see where one ends and the other begins. It’s constantly intriguing.”
