We asked Irene Gunter, Founder and Director of Gunter & Co, and her team to design a space in our showroom as part of Chelsea Design Quarter’s charity event in aid of Glass Door. Inspired by the work this charity does for men and women affected by homelessness, Irene’s design reflects on the concept of what it means to feel at home, to feel safe and at ease.
Irene’s fresh approach to design – that “a beautiful interior is layered, your eye always finding new details to discover and appreciate” – combined with her exquisite use of natural textures and elements of intrigue, goes hand in hand with Tom’s expertise in the field of distinctive silhouettes, simplicity and beautiful materials.
The Nest is an installation that is intended to feel cosy and lived-in; it is an exploration of different textures and patterns within a dining-living area, using materials and other elements that have been kindly donated by members of Chelsea Design Quarter and our friends within the interiors industry. It’s an illustration that beautifully made furnishings aren’t just for show homes and magazine shoots, but for real life, with soft corners for toddler’s heads, rugs for reading books on the floor and not fussing over wine spilled on a beautiful table. Good design is the science of comfort.
