How to Style a Snug

It’s beginning to feel very much like the season of the snug. Crisp air and earlier evenings inspire an inclination to hunker down and appreciate the joys of a good book or a favourite film. To set the mood, we’ve selected a few of our favourite pieces of snug furniture, from centrepieces like ottomans and coffee tables to finishing touches like candlesticks. Read on for the full range of modern snug room ideas…

1. Snug Seating Ideas

Berlin Easy Chair

These atmospheric nook rooms are all about comfort, at the end of the day. Finding the right spot to settle in is key – a chair with a deep seat and a leaned-back layout. The sleek, modern look of our Berlin Easy Chair belies a fabulous level of comfort. The traditionally oak bark tanned leather is spectacularly robust, especially after being finished by hand with over one thousand stitches. This is exactly the relaxed, sling-back look that helps to set a welcoming, informal tone in a space like a snug.

Lily Ottoman

The soft curves and crisp craftsmanship of our Lily Ottoman make for a lovely focal point within the cosy confines of a snug. There’s a balance struck between the sleek metal base and the plush upholstered seat, creating a neat yet inviting feel. It’s always comforting to have a central point to convene around, and keeping it soft and curvilinear helps to mellow the mood.

2. Tables for a Snug

Lily Cocktail Table

There should be an easy, accommodating feel to a space like a snug. To cater for a glass here and a book there, it works well to incorporate a couple of roving cocktail tables. The petit footprint and slender, lightweight design of our Lily Cocktail Tables makes it a cinch to place them exactly where they’re handiest, while adding a splash of originality to your scheme.

Memphis Round Coffee Table

The sinuous, undulating curves of our Memphis Round Coffee Table create an intriguing central feature, as well as a useful spot to browse books and place some nibbles. The languid lines of this contemporary design keep the effect soft and soothing in a space designed for relaxation.

Balzac Side Table

To inject an element of geometric – if slightly industrial – cool, consider a particularly contemporary side table like our Balzac. Rich tones like Bridge Red help to maintain an air of warmth, while design details like a Polished Bronze top catch the amber glow of nearby lamplight.

Papillon Drinks Trolley

On an especially chilly evening when the wind howls against the windows, there’s nothing like a tipple to warm you up. Keep the necessities close with a statement drinks trolley. Our Papillon comes in your choice of finish, though we’d recommend an eye-catching ombre colourway like Baronet Red, which we’ve specially formulated to suit the design. Complete the mood-boosting effect with dichroic glass, which sends pools of technicoloured light dancing across the floor.

3. Mood Lighting for a Snug

Capricorn Lamp

When you’ve got a fire roaring, it tends to feel right keeping the lights low. Give yourself a bit of a glow to read by with our Capricorn Lamp, designed with the same elegant shape as our classic dining table. Opt for a finish like Bronze to maintain that toasty tone, reflecting a warm hum of luminosity along its gently sloping surface.

AVA Candlesticks

The final piece of the puzzle is a bit of added firelight. Spread it around the room with our AVA Candlesticks, formed of carefully enfolded sheets of metal, which nest together to create an elegant, cinched effect. All that’s left to do is keep the candles burning deep into the night while you chat away the hours or leaf through your novel of the moment.
